For the first time in the history of Majuli district, an Anganwadi Centre is made up of Plastic bottle bricks instead of clay bricks which is also an environment-friendly process. The Anganwadi Centre is located in a small village called Kakorikata Village of the Majuli. The recent Deputy Commissioner of Majuli district Shri Bikram Kairi has initiated this environment-friendly moves in the Island district of Assam. This environment-friendly technology helps to reduce the construction cost.

The building is consist of a single room with a kitchen and a toilet. It is going to be the 39 Numbered of Anganwadi Centre in Majuli. The ceiling height of the building is 10ft and roof height is of 14ft.

Nowadays the Plastic bottle bricks technology is being used in many poor countries to solve the waste management problem and pollution problem of the environment. It helps to reduce the environmental pollution caused by plastic bottle and wastage of the plastic product. It helps to reduce the construction cost of a small building and it is a more durable bricks product than the clay bricks. Now 20,000 plastic bottle bricks are collected from different places like the restaurant, lodge, resorts of the Majuli district and being used in the construction work of the Anganwadi Centre.

It is one of the good initiative and idea for Majuli district as well as Assam state. It will help to reduce the soil pollution, wastage problem as well as the environmental pollution problem of Assam in future.
