The Assam state is situated South of the Eastern Himalayas region. It is one of the beautiful and glorious states of India. It is also called "The Land Of Beauty". The capital of Assam state is Dispur in India. 


2. O Mur Apunar Desh-Assam's State Anthem:

O Mur Apunar Desh means "Oh My Endearing Country". It is known as the state Anthem of Assam. It was written and composed by "Lakshminath Bezbarua" which was one of the best poem writers of the state. This poem is considered as one of the finest creation of Lakshminath Bezbarua and it was accepted as the state Anthem of Assam in the year 1927 at a conference which was held in Tezpur.

There are three different types of Bihu celebrated in Assam. Every year the Bihu festival comes thrice. The Bihu is the main festival or state festival of Assam. The three Bihu festivals are- Rangali Bihu or Bohag Bihu(celebrated in mid-April), Magh Bihu or Bhogali Bihu(celebrated in mid-January) and Kati Bihu or Kangali Bihu(celebrated in the month of October).

At present, the Dispur is known as the official capital of Assam. Guwahati is the unofficial or pseudo-capital of the state. Though the High Court, National Law College, IIT(Indian Institute Of Technology), DGP Headquarter and all the other main offices are present at Guwahati, the Dispur is the capital of the state. 


5. Dhola-Sadiya Bridge- Longest River Bridge Of India:

The Dhola-Sadiya Bridge is India's longest bridge till now. However, another bridge called Kacchi Dargah Bidupur Bridge under construction which is situated at the Bihar state of India. The total length of Dhola-Sadiya Bridge is 9.15 k.m. and the Kacchi Dargah Bidupur Bridge is 9.76 k.m. The expected completion year of the Kacchi Dargah Bidupur Bridge is December 2020 and when the construction of the bridge is completed then it will become the longest river bridge of India. The Dhola-Sadiya Bridge connects the North Eastern state Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The bridge crosses the Lohit River which is one of the major tributaries of the watercourse Brahmaputra from the village of Dhola in the South to Sadiya to the North. This bridge is the permanent and main road connection between the Northern Assam and the Eastern Arunachal Pradesh. The construction of the bridge was started in the year November 2011 and ends in the year 10th March 2017. The bridge was officially opened or inaugurated by the powerful Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi on 26th May 2017 and the bridge was named as "Bhupen Hazarika Setu" who was a famous creative person, singer, film-maker and socialist of Assam. The bridge has been designed to carry up to 60 tonnes weight tanks like T-72 main battle tanks, Arjun etc. of Indian military forces. 




6. Bogibeel Bridge- Asia's Second Longest Rail-Cum-Road Bridge:

The Bogibeel Bridge is the combination of road and rail bridge on the Brahmaputra river. This bridge is the second longest rail-cum-road bridge in Asia. The total length of the bridge is 4.94 k.m. and it connects the Dhemaji District and Dibrugarh District of Assam through National Highway-15 which is a colorful and glorious state of North East India. It is the fifth longest river bridge in India after the Bhupen Hazarika Setu(Dhola Sadiya Bridge). The construction of the bridge was started in the year 21st April 2002 and construction ends in the year December 2018. The bridge was opened or inaugurated by the powerful Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi on 25th December 2018(Birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee).

There are two World Heritage Sites in Assam state which are approved or certified by UNESCO. The World Heritage Sites are- Kaziranga National Park and Manas National Park. The Manas National Park is also called Wildlife Sanctuary. The Kaziranga National Park is a bonafide World Heritage Site of the state. The Kaziranga is also called the house of two-thirds of One-Horned Rhinoceroses of the world. The calculable population of One-Horned Rhinoceros in the Kaziranga National Park is 2,401 as of 2015 census. The Kaziranga National Park is also rich in a variety of flora and fauna. In the year 2006, both the National parks- Kaziranga and Manas was declared as Tiger Reserve

Umananda Island name is consist of two words- Uma(Another name of the Hindu Goddes Parvati) and Ananda which means "Happiness". Umananda Island is the smallest river island in the world and it is situated at the mid of the river Brahmaputra. The island is also called Peacock Island due to its structure. The Umananda Island is world famous for Golden Langur which is found only in Bhutan and Assam state of North East India.

Naamghar is the combination of two Assamese words- one is Naam means Prayer and Ghar which means House. So the Naamghar means Prayer House of Assamese people. There are many Prayer House in Assam and one of them is world famous which is known as Dhekiakhowa Bornaamghar, Jorhat. It is said that there is a lamp at Dhekiakhowa Bornaamghar which has never been turned off since 1461. The lamp was first lighted by saint Sri Sri Madhav Deva in the year 1461. The lamp of Dhekiakhowa Bornaamghar has been burning ever since 1461 and religiously re-fuelled by priests from generation to generation.

Hence the village Jatinga is known as the Suicidal Place Of Birds.
